We opened tonight with a few follow-up questions from last week's take-home reading after the Shoes of Peace session:
- Did you think about people in your life who could benefit from compassion, etc. from you?
- Did you think about a person you know who is peace-filled, and considered how they do it?
There were a few interesting answers to the question about knowing someone who is peace-filled. In each case it was a person close in our lives, not a famous person we admire from afar.
Then we watched the video. It was striking how Priscilla described faith as a protection for us when we are actively using it, doing God's work and taking risks that depend on Him. Just "believing," is not a protective faith.
Among our discussion questions after the video, I mentioned that Priscilla provide a simple definition for faith: acting like God is telling the truth. That lead to these questions:
- Is there any instance from your own experience when you felt specifically protected by God as a result of having acted in faith?
- Is there an area in your life in which you sense God is asking you to step out in faith with confidence in His ability to see you through?
- If so, what has made you hesitant to move forward (fear, doubt, other stress in life, guilt, hopelessness, tension with another person, etc.)?
- Recall a time when you sensed your confidence growing and the “fiery arrows” (guilt, fear, etc. etc.) fading as you walked in faith.
Next up is the Helmet of Salvation.
