We are on the final week of the Armor of God Bible study, featuring video written and presented by Priscilla Shirer.
Paul describes the Armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-20. This week the emphasis is on the second part of verse 17: 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. This is only offensive weapon Paul uses in his description. We will also spend a little more time on the last verses of the passage, where Paul talks about prayer.
Here is the description of this week's video session: Ephesians 6:17 is clear - the sword of the Spirit is the word of God. As the believer puts on the full armor of God it includes this weapon that may be used for defense or offense against the schemes and lies of the enemy. God's Word is an indispensable weapon for life.
Some pre-thinking about this session: - Would you describe yourself as defensive or offensive in your spiritual life? Should you take a different approach? - How do you see us as a congregation? Should we take a different approach?

Here are some questions on the topic of prayer to think about in advance:
1. Why would Paul tell us to arm ourselves for battle but then to stand fast and pray? What are we doing with armor and a sword in the middle of prayer? 2. Roman soldiers had more weapons and tools. Why doesn’t Paul provide a parallel piece of armor for prayer? 3. How can Paul expect us to Pray at all times? Do we find ourselves praying as a last resort when we can’t handle something ourselves?
